What's On The Horizon For: Swedavia

Airport operator Swedavia, an exhibitorat Routes World 2023 in Istanbul and a Routes 360 member, outlines its priorities and long term strategic goals.

Twenty-four new routes have been added to Stockholm Arlanda Airport’s (ARN) schedule so far this year, including flights from Newark by United Airlines and from Amman aboard Royal Jordanian.

Wizz Air is the latest carrier to establish operations from the airport, alongside its existing flights from Göteborg Landvetter Airport and Malmö Airport. Two new routes have been launched to Budapest, Hungary, and Gdansk, Poland.

Elizabeth Axtelius, Director of Aviation Business at Swedavia, says establishing more direct destinations and better connectivity to large international hubs are priorities in the mid- and long-term.

"We would also like to see established airlines continue to grow," she adds. "There is room for more competition or increased frequencies on existing routes."

Seeking to enhance connectivity across the board for Swedavia's airports, the organization shares its underserved and unserved route opportunities through its Routes 360 membership.
