Westjet announces new services

Calgary based low cost carrier Westjet has announced a number of new frequencies in its network, but also five new additions to its growing network. The new routes are;

  • Edmonton- Kamloops 3x weekly from 02 May.
  • Edmonton-San Francisco 3x weekly from 02 May
  • Toronto- Puerto Vallarta 1x weekly from 07 May
  • Vancouver-Kitchener daily from June 27
  • Vancouver- San Francisco daily from 28 June
  • Edmonton-Kamloops has no carrier operating the market.
  • Between Edmonton and San Francisco, United Airlines operates 14 weekly flights with CRJ aircraft with Air Canada also having previously operated the route
  • Air Canada operates a weekly service from Toronto to Puerto Vallarta
  • There is considerable traffic between Vancouver and San Francisco, Air Canada operates 16 weekly flights, and United Airlines 27. There does appear to be surplus demand on this route as BSP data shows a significant number of passengers connecting on Alaska Air through Seattle.
