Rennes Bretagne Airport
Private airport operator Vinci Airports was awarded the concession to manage Rennes Bretagne Airport (RNS) and plans an “ambitious” expansion program at the airport in France’s Brittany Region.
RNS, which Vinci and local officials believe is underutilized, is currently served by eight airlines flying to 15 airports, a mix of domestic and near-international destinations. Major airports served from RNS include Paris Charles de Gaulle, Dublin, London Gatwick and Amsterdam Schiphol. The airport handled 512,000 passengers in 2025.
Vinci said the expansion will particularly focus on enabling more international connectivity. Details of the airport modernization project will be unveiled this fall, Vinci added. A price tag was not revealed.
The global airport operator said the RNS project will focus on “strengthening connectivity options, modernizing infrastructure and services, accelerating the environmental transition [to decrease carbon dioxide emissions] and achieving financial independence.”
The concession was awarded by the elected officials of the Brittany regional council. Shareholder partners include the Ille-et-Vilaine Chamber of Commerce and private firm Sealar, which Vinci said is “positioning itself as a new airport operator in France, with a development strategy focused on managing local airports, often underutilized or undergoing a redefinition of their business model.”
Jean-Philippe Crocq, president of the Ille-et-Vilaine Chamber of Commerce, said the RNS modernization project will be driven by “economic ambition, environmental responsibility and tourism development.”
