The U.S. FAA will invest $481 million in airport infrastructure through 191 Airport Infrastructure Grant awards across 36 states and two territories. Announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, the funding includes $100 million for runway, taxiway and terminal reconstruction at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, $32.5 million for terminal reconstruction at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport and $30.3 million for terminal construction at San Diego International Airport. Other major awards include $14.2 million for taxiway improvements at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport and $8.7 million to rehabilitate the apron at El Paso International Airport. The grants support projects including terminal upgrades, runway and taxiway rehabilitation, baggage systems and other airport infrastructure improvements.

Latvia’s Riga Airport has launched the next phase of a €98 million ($114 million) passenger terminal expansion project that will increase capacity and modernize facilities to support future growth. Construction is due to begin later this month, with the project adding about 20,000 m² (215,000 ft.²) of terminal space, including new check-in, security screening, baggage reclaim and passenger waiting areas, alongside upgraded roads, parking and public spaces. The expansion, scheduled for completion within 42 months, will be financed through a lending package of up to €150 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Nordic Investment Bank and OP Corporate Bank. Riga Airport says the project will introduce next-generation passenger processing and security technologies while addressing capacity constraints at the existing terminal, which is already operating beyond its original design limits.

London Heathrow Airport has claimed that the expansion of the airport, including a third runway, is expected to support more than 108,000 jobs across the UK. The airport said the privately financed project would create jobs in construction, engineering, manufacturing and apprenticeships nationwide, while increasing capacity by 50% to as many as 756,000 annual flights and 150 million passengers. The announcement coincides with the close of the UK government's consultation on the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement and the start of parliamentary scrutiny.

Finavia has completed a €1.1 million ($1.3 million) modernization of the airfield at Tampere-Pirkkala Airport, Finland, including the replacement of the runway approach lighting system to enhance operational safety. The project included installation of a new 900-m (3,000-ft.) approach lighting system with 136 energy-efficient lighting units, replacement of about 12 km (40,000 ft.) of electrical cabling and resurfacing of 24,300 m² (262,000 ft.²) of paved areas. The airport handled 66,505 passengers during the first half of 2026, up 3.6% year over year.

Geneva Airport says a new economic impact study found its operations generated 3.3 billion Swiss francs ($4.1 billion) in added value and supported nearly 21,930 full-time-equivalent jobs in 2024. Conducted by independent consultancy Infras, the study found airport-related activities directly created 1.66 billion francs in added value and accounted for 2.6% of Geneva's GDP. The report also highlighted the wider economic impact beyond Geneva, with more than 550 million francs in added value generated in neighboring France and about 770 million francs elsewhere in Switzerland. Geneva Airport said its connectivity supports businesses, tourism and the city's role as an international diplomatic, financial and humanitarian center.
