TAP Portugal Introduces Scheduled Long-Haul Links to Porto Alegre
TAP Portugal is to launch flights between Lisbon and Porto Alegre, its tenth destination in Brazil. In the process it will become the first long-haul international carrier to introduce scheduled services to the capital city of the southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul. The four times weekly link will open on June 12, but frequencies are expected to drop to three times weekly during the Northern Winter schedules from late October. TAP Portugal already accounts for more than a quarter of the total weekly seats available between Europe and Brazil with 63 weekly flights to Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Campinas, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Sao Paulo. Traffic at Porto Alegre is currently dominated by domestic connections although international flights are also provided to Argentina, Guyana and Uruguay.
