TAM to open Bogota service

Star Alliance member TAM will begin scheduled services to Bogota, Colombia, effective December 19^th, to be operated on a six-weekly basis, becoming a daily from January 7^th. The route which originates in Sao Paulo will compete with Colombian national carrier Avianca which operates a double daily with a mix of narrow and widebody aircraft. GOL, also operates a six-weekly service. IATA BSP data shows that over 100,000 O+D passengers flew between the city pairs between September 2009 and September 2010, with Avianca having a 48% share of the traffic.
