Southwest Airlines Continues AirTran Network Optimisation
Southwest Airlines has announced latest changes for network optimisation with AirTran, which includes the launch of 2 new seasonal routes, as well as flight increases. Selected AirTran stations will be converted to Southwest as well.

03JUN12 – 11AUG12 New seasonal routes or additional flights
- 1 Daily Portland OR - Austin (new flight)
- 1 Daily St. Louis – Panama City Beach (new flight)
- Dallas Love Field – Austin Increases from 12 to 13 Daily
- St. Louis – Boston Increases from 2 to 3 Daily
eff 12AUG12 Following routes will be operated by Southwest instead of AirTran. AirTran will no longer operate these routes
- Chicago Midway – Akron 2 Daily 737-700
- Chicago Midway – Des Moines 2 Daily 737-700 (eff 30SEP12)
- Denver – Akron 1 Daily 737-700
- Denver – Dayton 1 Daily 737-700
