Shanghai Airlines to launch passenger service to Saipan
Shanghai Airlines plans to launch a passenger service in May to the Saipan in the north Pacific.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China says in a statement Shanghai Airlines has applied for permission to launch a twice-weekly service in May from Shanghai to Saipan.
It says Shanghai Airlines plans to use a Boeing 767.
Currently no carriers operate between Saipan and China but Northwest Airlines and Asiana Airlines operate from Japan to Saipan.
Saipan is the capital of the Northern Mariana Islands in the north Pacific.
