Ryanair to open Norwegian base

Ryanair has announced that it will create its first based operation in Scandanavia in the Norwegian capital of Oslo, at Ryyge Airport. There are currently only two operators at Rygge which is located some 63 kilometres away from Oslo. Norwegian was the first carrier to establish operations there and now operates 65 weekly flights to some 12 destinations.

Ryanair currently operates 49 weekly flights to 8 destinations, however with the basing of 3 new aircraft at Rygge, Ryanair is set to become the largest player at the airport. It will station three Boeing 737-800s at the airport, and open 16 new routes, bringing its total network there to 22.

The new services will operate to Aarhus, Berlin Schonefeld, Dublin, Dusseldorf Weeze, Eindhoven, Gdansk, Krakow, La Rochelle, Malaga, Allgau, Palma, Paris Beauvais, Riga, Wroclaw, Valencia and Venice Treviso.
