Ryanair to create Malaga base

Ryanair has announced that its 38th and latest base will be at Malaga International, Spain. Europe's largest LCC will station four B737-800 at the airport and launch 19 new routes, giving it a total of 39 destinations. New destinations will be Valladolid, Santander, Santiago and Zaragoza. International destinations will be Paris Beauvais, Berlin Schonefeld, Allgau/Memmingen, Aarhus, Bratislava, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Krakow, Wroclaw, Pisa, Venice, Oslo Torp, Stockholm Skavsta, Gothenburg and Tampere.

Ryanair currently operates from 20 airports in Spain. Its largest operations in terms of weekly flights are;

  • Madrid Barajas- 332 weekly flights (base)
  • Gerona - 291 weekly flights (base)
  • Alicante- 155 weekly flights (base)
  • Malaga - currently 67 weekly flights
  • Palma de Mallorca - 61 weekly flights
