Royal Jordanian to launch Medinah flights

On March 28 this year, Royal Jordanian will inaugurate regular direct flights to Madinah Munawwarh, Saudi Arabia, with initial two weekly flights.

President/CEO Hussein Dabbas said that opening this route is an advantage to RJ passengers who wish to visit Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah.

He pointed out that pilgrims normally wish to pass by Madinah Munawwarh and visit Prophet Mohammed tomb and religious places before heading to perform Hajj and Umrah rites. He added that the route will facilitate it before pilgrims instead of visiting Madinah Munawwarh via Jeddah airport or by land.

He stressed that the feasibility study the airline carried out shows that the service is bound to see success in serving Jordanian passengers and transit passengers from all around the world who wish to visit Saudi Arabia via Amman. Royal Jordanian flight will depart from Amman at 23:00 Sundays and Wednesdays, and will arrive in Madinah Munawwarh at 00:45 am. It will depart from Madinah Munawwarh Mondays and Thursdays at 1:45 am and reach Amman at 3:30 am.

Dabbas added that the airline directly operates to 56 destinations around the world, in addition to other 750 destinations served by RJ partners in the oneworld airline alliance. Studies are being conducted to open new routes such as Kuala Lampur, Johannesberg, Tehran, Izmir, Luxor, Aswan and others.

Madinah Munawwarh currently has a population of more than 1.5 million people. It is 340 km north of Mecca and about 190 km from the Red Sea coast.
