June 19

 

Jet2.com has added Tunisia to its summer 2027 network, launching flights from five UK airports. Services to Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport will operate between May and October 2027 from Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted and Manchester. Birmingham, Manchester and Stansted will each receive 2X-weekly flights, while East Midlands and Leeds Bradford will be served weekly. “This announcement represents a significant milestone in our efforts to strengthen Tunisia's position as a leading Mediterranean destination and reflects the growing confidence of major travel operators in our tourism offering,” says Fakhri Khalisi, acting UK director at the Tunisian National Tourist Office.


Air Arabia will launch daily nonstop flights between Sharjah and Aleppo from July 4, becoming the airline’s second destination in Syria. The new route will operate daily using Airbus A320-family aircraft. The LCC currently offers 21X-weekly flights between Sharjah and Damascus and 3X-weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Damascus.


TUI has added Zanzibar to its winter 2027-28 schedule. The carrier will offer 2X-weekly flights from London Gatwick Airport, beginning on Nov. 3, 2027. The route will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays through March 22, 2028.


Canada’s Air Transat has inaugurated new nonstop services from Montreal Trudeau International Airport to Dakar, Senegal, and Reykjavik, Iceland. The Dakar route launched on June 18 and will operate up to 2X-weekly through Oct. 18, while flights to Reykjavik began on June 16 and are scheduled to run up to 2X-weekly through Sept. 20. “With Dakar, we are pioneers, becoming the first airline to offer a direct connection between Canada and Sub-Saharan Africa,” says Sebastian Ponce, chief revenue officer at Transat. “With Reykjavík, we are making it easier to access a spectacular, high-demand destination, where nature and landscapes become a true travel experience.”


Latvian carrier airBaltic will extend its service between Vilnius and Berlin into the winter 2026-27 season, making the route a year-round operation. The route currently operates up to three times per week and will continue through winter with up to 2X-weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays. Berlin is one of 20 destinations served by airBaltic from Vilnius during summer 2026.


Riyadh Air has launched service between Riyadh and Dubai, marking the start of its third scheduled route following its commercial launch earlier this month. The service, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, connects King Khalid International Airport and Dubai International Airport with daily flights. Riyadh Air commenced routes to London Heathrow on June 10 and Jeddah on June 14. Flights to Cairo, Madrid and Manchester will begin in the coming weeks.

EasyJet has announced 13 new routes from eight UK airports for the 2026-27 winter season, expanding its network across Scandinavia, Northern Europe, North Africa and the Mediterranean. Among the additions is a new service between Manchester and Cairo Sphinx Airport, which will operate 2X-weekly from Nov. 9. The LCC is also continuing its expansion at Newcastle, adding five routes to Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Hurghada and Rovaniemi. EasyJet says its Newcastle network has quadrupled since the launch of a base there in March 2026.


LOT Polish Airlines will launch seasonal flights between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Tromso, Norway, during the 2026-27 winter season, targeting demand for Arctic tourism and northern lights travel. The route will commence on Dec. 1 and operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, through Feb. 13, 2027. Flights will be operated using Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with a flight time of just over 3 hr.


UK leisure carrier Jet2.com has expanded its summer 2027 Norway network, adding a route to Bergen from Bournemouth. The carrier will serve Bergen from eight UK airports next summer, including flights from Belfast International, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle. Manchester will again receive the largest schedule, with 2X-weekly flights operating between late March and mid-May.

Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aereas is expanding its international network with additional flights between Sao Paulo and Montevideo, Uruguay, and the resumption of domestic service between Campo Grande and Rio de Janeiro. From Aug. 13, GOL will add 3X-weekly frequencies between Sao Paulo Guarulhos and Montevideo, increasing service from seven to 10X-weekly flights. The new overnight departures will operate on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The carrier also serves Montevideo from Rio de Janeiro Galeao and Fortaleza, with seasonal flights from Natal. Separately, GOL will resume nonstop flights between Campo Grande and Rio de Janeiro Galeao on Aug. 3, restoring a route last operated between 2012 and 2015. The service will operate three times per week using Boeing 737 aircraft.


UK leisure carrier Jet2.com has further expanded its summer 2027 program to Bergerac, France. A new service from Bristol will operate weekly on Saturdays from May 22 to Sept. 25, 2027, complementing previously announced routes from Birmingham and Manchester. Together with its existing Leeds Bradford operation, Jet2 will serve Bergerac from four UK airports next summer.


Kazakhstan’s Air Astana will progressively restore flights to Dubai from both Almaty and Astana following disruptions caused by the Middle East crisis. The carrier plans to resume Almaty-Dubai services from June 20, initially operating 2X-weekly flights before gradually increasing to daily service by July 6. Flights from Astana will restart on July 10 and will also be ramped up in stages, reaching daily frequency from Aug. 3. All services will operate via Pakistan while Iranian airspace remains unavailable.


Qatar Airways has confirmed plans to resume service to 25 previously served destinations and launch one new route as it continues rebuilding its network following disruptions earlier this year. The airline says it expects to serve more than 160 destinations during summer 2026. Port Sudan, Sudan, will launch on July 2, while services to Bogota and Caracas will resume on July 22 and Philadelphia on Aug. 1. The remaining destinations are being restored with frequencies ranging from 2X-weekly service to Kigali, Rwanda, to daily operations on routes including Adelaide, Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; Brussels, Belgium; Lisbon, Portugal; and Prague, Czech Republic.


June 16

 

Porter Airlines has launched operations from the new Montreal Metropolitan Airport, becoming the first commercial carrier to serve the airport’s new passenger terminal. The airport, formerly known as Montreal Saint-Hubert Airport, officially opened to commercial traffic on June 15 with Porter’s inaugural flight to Vancouver. The airline is introducing 11 routes from the airport, creating a new secondary airport option for the Montreal region. Initial services include flights to Toronto Pearson, Billy Bishop Toronto City, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Halifax, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Moncton, Charlottetown and St. John’s. At launch, the largest markets are Toronto City Airport with 27X-weekly flights, Toronto Pearson with 20C-weekly flights, and Vancouver and Halifax with 14X-weekly flights each.


Virgin Australia has resumed its Qatar Airways-operated services between Melbourne and Doha, restoring double-daily connectivity between Melbourne and the Middle East after a four-month suspension. The resumed service supplements Qatar Airways’ own daily Melbourne-Doha operation, while Emirates plans to increase its Melbourne-Dubai schedule from 2X-daily to 3X-daily from August as capacity continues to recover.


Latvia’s airBaltic and El Al Israel Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement. Under the partnership, El Al will place its LY code on airBaltic-operated flights between Riga and Tel Aviv, as well as on airBaltic services from Riga to Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Munich, Oslo, Stockholm, Tallinn, Vienna, Vilnius and Zurich for connecting passengers. In turn, airBaltic will add its BT code to El Al-operated flights from Tel Aviv to Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Milan, Munich, Vienna and Zurich, providing additional one-stop travel options via Israel. The agreement coincides with airBaltic’s planned resumption of Riga-Tel Aviv flights on July 1. The carrier recently announced it will restart the route with 3X-weekly frequencies.


Air Transat has launched flights between Montreal and Agadir, becoming the only airline to offer nonstop service between North America and the Moroccan coastal city. The seasonal route is scheduled to run once a week on Fridays through Oct. 23. Agadir becomes Air Transat’s second destination in Morocco after Marrakech.


Abu Dhabi-based Etihad has commenced four new routes to Krakow, Palma de Mallorca, Damascus and Zanzibar City. The carrier is also restoring five seasonal destinations this summer: Mykonos and Malaga started on June 15 and Santorini on June 16. El Alamein will return on June 16 and Nice on July 19.


American Airlines will expand its network in Latin America and the Caribbean to 100 destinations with the launch of new routes from Miami to Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Cap-Haitien, Haiti. The airline will begin daily flights to Maracaibo on July 14 using Embraer 175 aircraft, becoming the only carrier offering nonstop service between the U.S. and Venezuela’s second-largest city. The route follows American’s recent return to Venezuela with flights between Miami and Caracas. American will also launch daily Boeing 737 service between Miami and Cap-Haitien on Nov. 1, becoming the first U.S. airline to announce the resumption of service to Haiti since major U.S. carriers suspended operations amid security concerns in late 2024.


South Africa’s Airlink will launch nonstop flights between Cape Town and Mauritius on Oct. 2, marking the carrier’s first service to the Indian Ocean island nation. The route will operate twice a week using Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, configured with 124 seats, including 12 in business class and 112 in economy.


Turkish LCC Pegasus Airlines has launched nonstop flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) and London Gatwick Airport (LGW), expanding its presence in the UK market. The new route complements the airline's existing daily service between SAW and London Stansted. LGW becomes the sixth airport in Pegasus' UK network.


June 15

 

Air Canada launched service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD). The route is being operated with a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The airline will fly between YYZ and BUD on a seasonal basis through Oct. 24. Air Canada is the only operator of the YYZ-BUD route.


Air Tahiti Nui, French Polynesia’s international carrier, and Air Tahiti, the domestic inter-island airline, activated a codeshare agreement. Passengers will be able to fly on Air Tahiti Nui flights from Europe, Japan, New Zealand and the U.S. to the airline’s base at Faaʼa International Airport and connect to Air Tahiti’s inter-island flights, including service to Bora Bora or Rarotonga. Air Tahiti Nui operates Boeing 787-9s, while Air Tahiti flies ATR 72s.


Sichuan Airlines opened cargo service between Nanning in southern China and Ho Chi Minh City. Flights will be operated 2X-weekly with an Airbus A321 freighter. 


Jetstar started 3X-weekly seasonal flights between Brisbane Airport (BNE) and Queenstown Airport (ZQN) in New Zealand. The route will be flown with an Airbus A320. Air New Zealand will also launch seasonal flights on the BNE-ZQN route from June 22, operating the service 3X-weekly with an A320neo.
