Voting has now closed for the third regional heat of the 2014 Routes Marketing Awards and the shortlisted airports and destinations were announced earlier this week.
Created in 1997 to recognise excellence in airport marketing as rewarded by airlines, the annual Routes awards provide the airline community with the chance to have their say as to which airport they think provides the best overall marketing services to them. Today these awards are the most highly regarded in the industry and are voted for and judged by airlines.
Airlines from within the European region were asked to consider the efficient use of marketing activities by an airport or destination over the last 12 months when deciding who to nominate. Shortlisted airports and tourism authorities have now been contacted and asked for a submission to support their nomination. This submission process is designed to enable those shortlisted to provide information for the judging panel as to why they think they should win the award, providing evidence to support their case.
The overall winner of the Routes Europe Awards 2014 will be automatically shortlisted, along with the winners of the other regional heats taking place through the year at all other Routes events, for the World Routes Marketing Awards which will be announced in Chicago this September.
