ROUTES ASIA: Shortlist for Regional Airport Marketing Awards Announced

Voting closed earlier this month for the second regional heat of the 2012 Routes Airport Marketing Awards, covering the Asian region and the airports shortlisted for the award have now been confirmed.

This year the awards have been split into three categories within the region; China and North East Asia, The Middle East and India and Oceania and South East Asia. There will be one winner from each category and one of those winners will also be announced as the overall winner for the entire Asia region.

Whichever airport wins this highly sought after industry accolade will be automatically shortlisted in their region for the World Routes Airport Marketing Awards which will take place at the event in Abu Dhabi, 29th September – 2nd October 2012. Already shortlisted for the World Routes Marketing Awards is Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport who were announced as the overall winner of the first regional heat in the Americas earlier this year in The Bahamas.

For the overall winner from the region, this will mean that the airport does not need votes from outside the region to be shortlisted for the World Awards giving them the chance to win a globally recognised industry award, no matter their size or region.

Over the last month airlines have been voting for the airports who they feel have made the most efficient use of their marketing over the last 12 months. Airlines were asked to take into account the airport’s market research activities, marketing communications, business case presentations and joint communication campaigns with third parties. From the airports nominated the following have been shortlisted within each category:

China & North East Asia
Shanghai International Airport Company Ltd
Beijing Capital International Airport Co., Ltd.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
Narita Airport Corporation

Middle East & India
Abu Dhabi Airports Company
GVK – Mumbai International Airport
GMR Hyderabad International Airport
Bangalore International Airport
Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd

Oceania & South East Asia
Melbourne Airport
Auckland Airport
Darwin International Airport
Sydney Airport
Changi Airport Group

The winner and the highly commended airports will be announced during the Routes Asia Networking Evening in Chengdu, China tonight (Monday 16th April).
