Route Exchange Airline Briefings continue to go from strength to strength as is shown by the success of the briefings already held this year at Routes’ regional events and the programme promises to be bigger and better than ever at World Routes in Abu Dhabi.
Earlier this week Skyteam member Kenya Airways signed up to outline their expansion strategy at World Routes. This briefing, delivered by Jimmy Kibati, Head of Network Planning & Airline Strategy for Kenya Airways, is the 28thto be confirmed for this year’s event.
These ever popular briefings, given by senior network planners, are an opportunity for airports attending to gain an overview of the carriers, allowing them to view, first-hand, what information the airline requires from the airports when making route proposals. The Briefings offer crucial intelligence to airports which has led to new routes commencing such as Thai Airways service to Brussels which was negotiated after an opportunity spotted by Brussels Airport at a Route Exchange Briefing.
The 2012 event will see three Route Exchange Theatres within the Networking Village which in total will seat over 150 delegates. A wide variety of carriers from all regions have already signed up to take part with more expected to confirm over the next few weeks. The complete and up to date programme can be found online; here we outline a few of the highlights of this busy programme.
Our official host carrier for World Routes, Etihad Airways, will host a briefing delivered by Vice President Network Planning John Shepley on the expansion plans of the Abu Dhabi based carrier. Another of the Middle Eastern giants Emirates will discuss their strategy and requirements for new route development. This insightful briefing will be delivered by Emirates’ Divisional Vice President Route Planning & Economics, Anand Lakshminarayanan.
Sabine Reim, Network Development Manager for British Airways will present two separate Route Exchange Briefings one for existing BA markets on plans for frequency and capacity expansion from its London Heathrow hub and a further briefing aimed at airports looking to attract new BA service from the same.
Riki Cannon, Manager International Network Planning for Qantas will overview the new business units within the carrier and how this relates to their Route Development Strategy whilst easyJet’s Head of Network and Schedule Development, Alan McIntyre, will deliver a briefing focused on growth opportunities from its existing bases.
JetBlue recently confirmed that they will outline their plans through a mix of growth with their own metal and through interline agreements. This briefing will be delivered by Scott Laurence, Jeff Meyer and Scott Resnick, Director of Alliance Strategy and is a unique opportunity to hear from perhaps the most prolific of interline carriers, given JetBlue’s position as the biggest carrier at JFK International Airport.
Places in these briefings are limited so airport delegates should contact Simon Baxendale, Scheduling Manager for Routes to add briefings to your diary of pre-scheduled meetings. Click here for further information about the programme of Route Exchange Briefings and to register for World Routes 2012.
