World Routes in Berlin is shaping up to be a very exciting event with many high level delegates, first time attendees, new exhibitors, Routes Talks, Route Exchange Briefings and much, much more. Here are just some of the highlights you can expect at this year’s event.
Airline Update
Currently 275 airlines registered to attend World Routes in Berlin, more than ever before at this stage before the event with more expected to register soon. The airline attendee list can be found here .
23 out of the 25 largest airlines by ASK (Available Seat Kilometres) are already registered. oneworld have confirmed that they will host a meeting of their carriers at World Routes in Berlin. The meeting is being coordinated by Dennis Tierney, Vice President Membership and Customer Experience who cited Routes as the perfect venue for oneworld to co-ordinate their airline activity. Sir Michael Blunt, Communications Director for oneworld will speak at the World Route Development Strategy Summit.
Every oneworld airline is attending this year’s World Routes event.
Strong presence from China/Asia/Middle East including registrations from Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGO, China Southern, Air China, China Eastern, Hainan Airlines, JAL and ANA (Japan), JetStar and Qantas (Australia).

British Airways is sending 17 delegates to Routes all from commercial planning/network. Large
airline delegations means increased chances for networking. Other airlines bringing increased delegations this year include:
- Emirates
- Lufthansa
- Air Berlin Group
- Delta Air Lines
- Southwest Airlines
- All Nippon Airways Presence from the Americas region is strong with an integrated United Airways and Continental attending, Delta Air Lines, US Airways plus low cost carriers Southwest and JetBlue. Air Canada, Air Transat and WestJet are also all in attendance whilst LAN and TAM are individually represented.
Cargo representation is strong with over 20 cargo carriers, including registration from FedEx the World’s largest cargo airline and a recent registration from Trans Mediterranean Airways.
Airport & Supplier Update
There are now more airport delegates registered to attend World Routes than ever before with over 700 airport delegates representing over 500 airports.
The Chinese delegation this year is very strong with over 80 delegates registered from Chinese airports. 14 Chinese airports are exhibiting so far this year including:
- Beijing Capital International Airport Co. Ltd.
Shanghai International Airport Co.,ltd
Guangdong Airport Management Corp.
Yunnan Airport Group Co. Ltd - Attendance from regional airports around the world is strong at this year’s World Routes with registrations from Norwich Airport, Sonderborg Airport, Cuneo Airport, Niagara Falls International Airport & Branson Airport, LLC amongst others.
- Latest registrations this year include Indonesian Airports both PT1 and PT2, TravelSky Technology Ltd, DOB Systems, World Fuel Services, Ghana Airports Company Limited.
Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the World’s largest airport have confirmed that they will have representation in Berlin. - First time registrations have been received from Sacramento International Airport and Columbus Regional Airport Authority.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad are confirmed to sponsor Monday lunch in Hall 2.
Tourism Update
Philippine Department of Tourism will attend World Routes for the first time and are also exhibiting.
First time attendees Turismo De Tenerife will also take an exhibition stand.
First time attendee Texas Tourism have taken an exhibition stand and will participate in the Routes Talks Tourism Seminar Theatre.
Other first time attendees to World Routes who will all be speaking as part of the Routes Talks Tourism Theatre programme include:
- Minister for Tourism, H.E. Mr Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism
- Deputy Minister for Tourism, Mr George Nikitiades from the Hellenic Republic Ministry of Culture & Tourism
- Deputy Director General, Promotion, Levent Demire from the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism
- Managing Director, Fadhil Al Saaegh from Tourism Iraq - Al-Rafidain
