City Airline AB, the Gothenburg regional airline will unveil a raft of new routes from its Gothenburg base. The carrier will inaugrate new service to the following markets.

Alicante on a 2x weekly basis, Athens and Palma Mallorca on a 1x weekly basis, and on a thrice weekly basis City Airline will operate to Barcelona, Malaga, Milan (MXP) and Rome (FCO).

The new routes will be commenced in April 2010 and are to be operated by a leased MD-87 which is a shift in stategy for the carrier which has previosuly deployed its own Embraer regional jets with smaller capacities to the MD-87 which has a traditional capacity of around 109 seats.

With a clear stategy to commence new routes on sunshine markets and city break markets. City Airline currently operates 64 weekly flights out of GOT well behind SAS which operates over 120.

None of the new markets are currently served out of GOT, however all are served out of Stockholm. Currently the GOT leaks its passengers to the Stockholm market and City Airline hope to gain this traffic and stimulate traffic to these popular markets.
