Pegasus Airlines carried 12.5 million passengers between Jan-Sept
Pegasus Airlines carried 12.58 million guests between January and September 2013, translating to a 22.3 per cent year on year increase according to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) traffic data for September 2013, having carried 10.29 million guests during the same period in 2012.
In the first 10 months of 2013 Pegasus Airlines added a total of 18 new routes with nine new routes into western Europe, the Balkans, Russia and the Middle East, its new destinations being Barcelona, Belgrade, Bishkek (as Pegasus Asia), Doha, Moscow, Nuremberg, Sarajevo, Tirana and Sochi. Within Turkey it has also added nine new routes: Istanbul to Amasya (Merzifon), Denizli, Balıkesir -Edremit, Erzurum, Kahramanmaras, Mardin, Mus, Nevsehir and Sirnak.; which translates to a 21.9 per cent growth in guest numbers on Turkish routes and a 23 per cent increase on Pegasus’ international routes.
Sales director, Emre Pekesen said: “This year at WTM we will be showcasing our stellar growth model as we are now one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines, flying to 76 destination in 30 countries. Pegasus Airlines flew 60 million guests between 2005 and the first six months of 2013, last year alone flying 13.6 million guests. Looking ahead to next year, expansion will continue in 2014 with more routes set to be launched, particularly in Europe, the Middle East, Russia and the Caucasus.”
