Oz urged to open up domestic routes

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) and Trade has called on the Federal Government to open up domestic aviation routes to international carriers.

DFAT said the move would increase competition on domestic routes and bring down airfares.

But the department said international carriers should only get access to domestic routes if Australian airlines were afforded reciprocal rights.
