Oman Air to serve Colombo, Sri Lanka

Oman's flag carrier will begin service from Muscat to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo from Friday.

Peter Hill Oman Air’s CEO commented that demand for this destination comes from many Sri Lankan expatriates working in Oman who have started using its services.

Oman Air’s fleet consists of boeing 737-800 and A330s. During 2010/2011, three additional A330-300s will be delivered.

Plus, Oman Air recently signed a contract with Embraer for five Embraer 175 aircraft from the E-Jets family, with purchase rights for another five aircraft. The first delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2011.

Oman Air has also ordered seven Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are scheduled for delivery in 2014.
