Oman Air is expanding its network in Asia with the launch of nonstop service to Singapore, returning to the market after an absence of almost a decade.
The 4X-weekly route connecting Muscat International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport will operate from July 2, 2026, using Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The carrier last served the destinations until May 2017. Since then, the airports have been without nonstop flights.
“With demand growing for distinctive destinations and high-quality travel experiences, this service expands choice for both leisure and business travelers,” Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis says. “It also reinforces Muscat’s role as an important hub between east and west, enabling efficient connectivity between Asia-Pacific markets and Europe complemented by our Oneworld partners.”
The 3,429-mi. (2,980-nm) Muscat–Singapore sector will become Oman Air’s farthest narrowbody route and its fifth-longest overall. The carrier’s current farthest 737-8 service links Muscat with Kuala Lumpur, at 3,235 mi. (2,811 nm), according to OAG Schedules Analyser data.
The Singapore launch comes as Oman Air continues a multi-year transformation aimed at improving profitability and shifting its network toward higher-quality point-to-point traffic.
When Korfiatis took the helm in mid-2024, point-to-point traffic accounted for about 15% of the airline’s business. As reported by Aviation Week, that figure has since climbed to roughly 55% and is expected to reach around 60% in 2026, as the carrier exits heavily transit-focused routes and concentrates aircraft on markets with stronger local demand.
According to Sabre Market Intelligence figures, about 13,500 two-way passengers travelled between Oman and Singapore in 2024, a 72% increase year over year, despite the absence of nonstop service. All traffic was routed indirectly, primarily via Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
In July, Oman Airports also deepened ties with Singapore, having signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Changi Airports International to develop commercial and aviation revenues and enhance the passenger experience across Oman’s airports.
Oman Air’s planned route addition follows a series of other network adjustments. The Oneworld member launched a 2X-weekly Muscat-Baghdad-Copenhagen service on Dec. 16 and will add 3X-weekly Muscat-Taif flights in January, expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia. The carrier has also increased frequencies to London Heathrow and resumed services to Zurich.
