Oman Air to celebrate new flights in Colombo

Oman Air will be celebrating the launch of flights to its latest destination, the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo, at a special event in the city on February 26th. Four flights a week from Oman's capital city, Muscat, to Colombo were announced in November last year.

His Excellency Eng Sultan Hamdoon Al Harthi, the President of the Muscat Municipality, will be the chief guest for the launch celebrations. He will be joined by a high-level delegation from Oman Air, led by Chief Executive Officer Peter Hill and including members of the airline’s Senior Management team.

Peter Hill, Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer, says: “Sri Lanka has proven to be a welcome addition to the ever-expanding Oman Air network. Customers are thrilled with this destination, as Sri Lanka has everything a tourist wants to explore, experience and see. The new Airbus A330 aircraft that we have deployed on this route, together with the spectacular natural beauty that Sri Lanka is known for, ensure that our valued customers will have a truly enjoyable holiday.

“Our service to this destination is also viewed as a boon by the many Sri Lankan expatriates working in Oman, who have started using our services.

“Sri Lanka is a place that can be visited the whole year round and is rated as one of the world’s top tourist destinations. With Oman Air’s exemplary services and products, I am sure that our new service will open up a whole new experience for discerning travellers, from both Oman and further afield.”

Oman Air will be offering the full connectivity suite (Mobile OnAir and Internet OnAir) on its commercial widebody aircraft when it unrolls full mobile phone and wi-fi connectivity across its brand new Airbus A330 fleet over the next few months. The move will give passengers in First, Business and Economy classes the opportunity to make and receive mobile phone calls, SMS, use email and the internet and keep up-to-date with social networking media, such as Facebook and Twitter.
