American Eagle Spreads its Wings in Miami
American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, this week announced increased nonstop service between Miami International Airport and 10 additional cities throughout the American Airlines network, commencing 18th Nov. The new city pairs are as follows:
- MIA - Cincinnati
- MIA - Columbus
- MIA - Greensboro
- MIA - Indianapolis
- MIA - Jacksonville
- MIA - Knoxville
- MIA - Louisville
- MIA - Memphis
- MIA - Pittsburgh
- MIA - Richmond
American Eagle Airlines will also introduce two new daily services from Miami to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on 18th Nov.
American Eagle Airlines operates over 1,500 daily flights to nearly 160 cities throughout the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, Mexico and the Caribbean on behalf of American Airlines.
Delta Air Lines Files For Cancun Service
Delta Air Lines is seeking approval from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to begin seasonal services to Cancun from airports at Austin, Columbus, San Antonio and Tampa.
If approved, the route will start on February 19, with Boeing MD-80 aircraft.
Sun Country Airlines currently flies between Austin and Cancun on a twice-weekly basis.
There are no carriers currently flying between Tampa and Cancun.
Alaska Airlines Heads for Honolulu
Alaska Airlines will expand its existing services from Bellingham in Washington to Honolulu on January 7.
The Seattle-based carrier will operate the sector daily with 737-800 aircraft.
In March, Allegiant Air announced its intentions to serve Hawaii next year with newly acquired 757s, but has not yet confirmed specific routes to the islands.
Brazil's Azul Expands Regional Links
Azul continues to expand domestically, with a focus on regional routes, including new services from its Campinas base to São Luís and Teresina, starting on 1 September.
Azul placed a firm order at the Farnborough International Air Show last month for 20 ATR 72-600S, with options for another 20.
Air Canada Opens New Orleans Service
National carrier Air Canada plans to launch daily non-stop services from Toronto Pearson to New Orleans, beginning on October 30.
The route will be served with 75-seat, Jazz CRJ 705 aircraft.
This week, the carrier also launched the only non-stop fights between Gander and Goose Bay as well as connections from Wabush to Sept-Iles.
Both routes are operated by Air Canada's commercial partner, Exploits Valley Air Services (EVAS), with 18-seat Beech 1900 aircraft.
