DELTA AND AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS CODESHARE AGREED

Delta Air Lines and Aerolineas Argentinas have confirmed a codesharing agreement for flights connecting Miami and Atlanta to Buenos Aires as well as service to 14 US destinations, eight domestic destinations in Argentina, three flights to Canada and flights to Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. The partnership is part of the closer ties the Argentine carrier is developing with its SkyTeam partners ahead of its entry into the global alliance next year. "Since 1997, Delta's presence in South America has grown significantly. Today we offer 95 weekly non-stop flights to eight countries in South America, and a total of 1,083 weekly flights to Latin America and the Caribbean. This new agreement with Aerolineas Argentinas is key to our strategy, and will help us solidify and expand our network to, from and within Argentina and will allow us to provide service to all countries in the Southern Cone," said Ed Bastian, President, Delta Air Lines. This arrangement is due to come into effect in the final quarter of this year, subject to government approvals. It will enable Delta to sell connecting services on Aerolineas Argentinas flights to eight Argentine destinations: Calafate, Cordoba, Iguazu, Mendoza, Rio Grande, Rosario, San Carlos de Bariloche, and Ushuaia, the capital city of Tierra del Fuego Province. Additional destinations in South America include: Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil; Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Santiago de Chile, Chile; Asuncion, Paraguay; and Montevideo, Uruguay. Meanwhile, Aerolineas Argentinas will be able to sell services to 14 additional US destinations and three Canadian destinations. The US domestic destinations are: Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Juan, Seattle and Washington DC, while Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are the three points in Canada.

ALLEGIANT AIR BRINGS LAS VEGAS LINK TO OWENSBORO

Allegiant Air is to introduce a twice weekly flight to Las Vegas from Owensboro Daviess County Airport adding to its existing link to Orlando Sanford International. The new service will be launched on October 14 and will be operated by a 150-seat McDonnell Douglas MD-80. Allegiant Air has been the main operator from the Kentucky airport since it inaugurated flights in February 2009, although Pacific Wings is also currently operating an Essential Air Services route to Nashville, albeit this will terminate at the end of September. “This additional air service announcement represents Allegiant’s confidence in the Western Kentucky, Southern Indiana market—a confidence that stems from the community’s overwhelming response to Allegiant’s Orlando flights over the last 2 ½ years,” said Bob Whitmer, Director, Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport. “I expect the number of passengers passing through the Owensboro-Daviess County Airport to double over the next year.” Allegiant Air carried an estimated 33,000 O&D passengers on its twice weekly flights between Owensboro and Las Vegas and is hopeful if similar success with the new service to Las Vegas.

AMERICAN EAGLE FLIES INTO WATERTOWN

American Eagle Airlines has finalised negotiations with officials in Jefferson County to launch a twice daily service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Watertown International Airport in Watertown, New York. The new service will be introduced from November 17, pending government approval, and will be operated with a 44-seat Embraer ERJ140. The route is expected to generate a good mix of point-to-point and connecting traffic, opening American Airlines’ and the wider oneworld alliance network to passengers via Chicago. It will also enable more efficient travel for military personnel and other visitors traveling to and from the US Army base at nearby Fort Drum and make the area more attractive for businesses who are looking to relocate or expand. "We are very pleased having received final confirmation from American Eagle for a mid-November start date," said Barry Ormbsy, Chairman, Airport Committee – Jefferson County Board of Legislators. "Our ability to offer affordable non-stop jet service to Chicago O'Hare will greatly enhance our air traffic volume here in Watertown. With the commencement of this important commercial service, Jefferson County has now met yet another of its many ambitious airport development goals and, in so doing, further enhanced economic development opportunities for our region."

VISION AIRLINES REVISES WINTER NETWORK

Vision Airlines has revealed its new Northern Winter schedule and will make immediate changes to its network to support variations in autumn and winter demand. The carrier confirms that new flights will be introduced from Louisville to Punta Gorda/Ft Myers and Orlando/Sanford; Little Rock to Orlando/Sanford, and St Louis to Punta Gorda/Ft Myers but will discontinue service in Lafayette, Shreveport, Chattanooga, Asheville, and Knoxville with the first changes being adopted as early as August 19. “The fall and winter schedules shift as consumers typically flock to Southern Florida destinations or to international hot spots like Grand Bahama Island,” said David Meers, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Vision Airlines. “Based upon travel trends, we have decided to make these changes sooner than anticipated and focus on markets where demand for travel will be stronger.” Vision Airlines will retain the majority of its current links into the Destin/Ft Walton Beach area but confirmed that its flight from Little Rock will close from November 2. "We expect to have a robust schedule of flights to Northwest Florida Regional Airport resume again on April 1, 2012,” added David Meers.
