AEROMEXICO RAMPS UP SAN ANTONIO

SkyTeam member Aeromexico has announced that it will add a second daily frequency from Mexico City to San Antonio, Texas. Effective January 10th, 2011 it will add B737 aircraft which will complement the existing E195 daily service. Aeromexico currently has a 15% share of the annual O+D market of over 115,000 passengers, however will seek to take advantage of Mexicana’s share of 75% with it no longer operating the sector.


AEROSUR OFF TO DULLES

Privately owned Bolivian carrier, Aerosur will begin its first service to the US, announcing that from December 18th, it would operate a once-weekly service from Santa Cruz to Washington Dulles. The route will be operated with B767 aircraft.


FRONTIER EXPANDS DENVER OPERATIONS

Denver based Frontier Airlines will expand its scheduled services from Denver to the existing markets of Chicago Midway and Dallas Fort Worth. Beginning May 16th, 2011 Chicago Midway will increase from a four to five weekly, whilst Dallas Fort Worth will transition to a six-weekly from its current five-weekly.


UNITED BOOST LOS ANGELES TO DALLAS SERVICE

Star Alliance member United Airlines will boost scheduled services from Los Angeles to Dallas effective April 25th. The route will receive an extra daily frequency, meaning that United will now operate four daily scheduled flights. IATA BSP data shows that between September 2009 and September 2010, over 653,000 O+D passengers flew the route with American Airlines having a 71% share of this market.


AIRTRAN OFF TO BERMUDA

Low-cost operator AirTran Airways has announced that it will begin seasonal flying to the Caribbean Island of Bermuda. From early April, through September 2011, it will launch a daily rotation from Baltimore and between May and September, a daily service from Atlanta. It will attack Delta service from Atlanta whilst US Airways is the market leader from Baltimore with its passengers transiting via Philadelphia.
