COPA DELAYS CUBA LAUNCH

Copa Colombia, which was formerly known as Aerorepublica has delayed the launch of its proposed service from Bogota to Havana. The route was scheduled to have commenced early November, however will now be operated once weekly from December 12th with Embraer E-195 aircraft. The route is currently operated once-weekly by Cubana de Aviacion.


TAME ECUADOR TO LAUNCH PANAMA CITY

The national airline of Ecuador, TAME, has announced that it will inaugurate scheduled service from its Quito base to Panama City. The route will be operated thrice-weekly with a mix of regional and mainline equipment. IATA BSP data shows that over 61,000 O+D passengers have flown between the city pairs between July 2009 and July 2010. The route will commence December 1st, and on the same day TAME will also serve Panama City from Guayaquil, a route currently served twice-daily by Copa Airlines.


AMERICAN AIRLINES ADDS THREE NEW DOMESTIC MARKETS

Oneworld member, American Airlines has announced expansion from its Dallas Fort Worth hub with scheduled services to Cleveland, Little Rock and Milwaukee. All these routes are currently operated by American Eagle, however mainline service be reintroduced from April 5th, 2011. Cleveland will now be operated thrice-daily, Little Rock will be operated thrice-daily by mainline and four-times weekly by regional aircraft. Milwaukee will be reduced to a thrice-daily instead of the existing five-times daily currently operated by American Eagle.


DELTA LAUNCES NEW WEST COAST SERVICE

SkyTeam member Delta Air Lines will launch a new scheduled service from Orange County to Las Vegas effective January 4th, 2011. The route will be operated six-times weekly and will compete with Southwest Airlines which operates the service up to eight times daily.


HAWAIIAN AIRLINES BOLSTER SYDNEY SERVICE

Hawaiian Airlines has announced that effective April 6th it will increase its existing four-times weekly service from Honolulu to Sydney to a daily rotation. The increase in frequency will be until July 31st when the service remains year round on a five-times weekly rotation. Between July 2009 and July 2010,over 126,000 O+D passengers flew the route with Jetstar having a 47% share of this traffic.


EAGLE SOARS INTO SPRINGFIELD

American Eagle will launch scheduled service from Dallas Fort-Worth to Springfield from April 5th, 2011. The route will be operated twice-daily with ERJ-145 equipment.
