Demand Back for Mexico-China Service

A sign of an economy in recovery, Aeromexico has just returned to Shanghai from its Mexico City hub - a route it had suspended last May due to a fall off in passenger numbers.

It’s the only non-stop service between Latin America and Asia and now operates twice a week using 777s.

While IATA BSP data shows a limited number of O&D passengers between the city pairs for the January 2009-2010 period, now that the H1N1 influenza outbreak is over (and out of the media spotlight), Aeromexico will be well placed to stimulate demand with its connectivity to the Latin American market through Mexico City, with a network to over 50 destinations in the region.

The route is timely, with the Shanghai Expo 2010 being held between May and October.

US Airways' New Canadian Routes

US Airways has announced new Canadian services for the Summer timetable - to Ottawa and Halifax from its Charlotte and Philadelphia hubs.

From May 31, the Charlotte-Ottawa service will run seven times a week, while Ottawa will be served 20-times weekly from Philadelphia.

From June 1, Halifax (Nova scotia) will receive a three-times daily from Philadelphia. US Airways will be the only carrier to fly between the points non-stop.

All routes will be operated with an Air Wisconsin CRJ200.

The summer timetable also includes daily services to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta, starting June 5 - using A319s.
