Meet The Winners: Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority

During Routes Americas 2025, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority was crowned the winner of the Destination Category at the Routes Awards.

Las Vegas set a new annual passenger record in 2024, welcoming over 46 million travelers, with airlines adding 300,000 new seats and a record-breaking 170 nonstop destinations connecting to the city.

Over the past year, 13 new markets were added, with a total of 33 new routes announced, including the long-anticipated Dublin-Las Vegas service by Aer Lingus, operating three times per week from winter 2024—a connection that has been in the works for over a decade. The city also welcomed Porter Airlines and Norse Atlantic Airways as new airline partners.

In October 2024, Korean Air increased its Seoul-Las Vegas service to daily flights, strengthening connectivity to and from Asia. Since then, Southwest Airlines launched a daily route from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Feb. 13, while Frontier Airlines is set to begin flights from Seattle Paine Field International Airport on June 2.

Despite these gains, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) sees further opportunities for expansion, particularly in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

“As a destination that is built for travel and tourism, we are always looking for new ways to attract new visitors to Las Vegas but also to maintain our repeat visitors.” said Cheryl Smith, director at LVCVA, during Routes Americas 2025.

To drive year-round demand, Las Vegas has introduced more international and domestic sporting events, concerts, and festivals. “This means that visitation is driven across the year and there isn’t a week, month or year that you can’t find something to do in Las Vegas,” Smith added.

Reflecting on Las Vegas’ Routes Americas 2025 win, Smith called it an honor, emphasizing that the recognition extends beyond LVCVA to airline and airport partners. “We’re excited to be able to share that opportunity and win not only internally with our own team, but with our airline partners and the airports on the other side of our Routes,” she added.

“This year’s event has been fantastic, there have been so many more people and faces. It’s always great to come to a Routes event and be able to rekindle relationships as well as build new ones.”
