Meet The Winners: easyJet

During the Routes Awards in Hong Kong, easyJet was named the winner of the Airline category in recognition of its commitment to sustainable network growth and strong collaboration with partners.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, easyJet continues to strengthen its position as a leading LCC, serving more than 1,200 routes across Europe and beyond.

In 2025, the airline will operate more than 1,100 routes across 35 countries and has opened three new bases—at London Southend, Milan Linate, and Rome Fiumicino—as part of its continued expansion strategy.

The airline’s network planning strategy combines extensive data analysis with deep market insight to support sustainable, long-term growth. easyJet’s recent expansion reflects a balance between strengthening existing markets and entering new ones.

Among its latest developments, easyJet has launched three new routes from Cape Verde—including Lisbon and Porto—becoming the first low-cost carrier to operate between Portugal and the island nation. The airline also inaugurated flights from Tbilisi International Airport, its first services in Georgia, while connectivity from Tromsø has expanded to eight destinations across six countries.

EasyJet has built strong partnerships with more than 150 airports, as well as with tourism boards and local communities—a collaborative approach that continues to drive its growth and underpin its Routes Award success.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have been honored with this award,” said George Ducksbury, Head of Network Strategy at easyJet. “It’s fantastic to have been recognised for all our sustainable network development and collaboration with partners.”

“A huge thank you to our amazing airport and network development teams at easyJet—this is only possible due to all of your hard work. And secondly to our airport and destination partners, we really value your support, and finally to Routes and Hong Kong for an amazing event,” Ducksbury added.

Looking ahead, easyJet plans to expand its fleet by 39 aircraft by 2028, increasing the share of fuel-efficient Airbus neos to 55% by 2029. In March 2026, the airline will open a new three-aircraft base at Newcastle International Airport, England, supporting the launch of 11 new routes.

As a Routes 360 member, easyJet regularly uploads its fleet and route information to help streamline meetings and collaboration at Routes events.
