Meet The Team: Oman Airports

Our new Routes 360 Meet the Team feature will bring the people and personalities within an airport’s aviation development to the forefront. This week we speak to Dagmo Ahmed Jama, Director Integrated Marketing at Oman Airports. 

Tell us a bit about yourself and the team

The team was created in 2019 to streamline the commercial marketing activities. Currently the whole team members are females and that came by chance and not by design. As a result, the team drive to excel in their roles efficiency and dedication. I started my career in banking but always had soft spot for aviation industry specifically airports, so when the opportunity presented itself I decided to make the shift 10 years ago.  

What recent achievements are you most proud of?

Creating a platform of marketing innovative approach and dynamic activity practices aided us to adapt post-COVID. We reevaluated our processes and collaborated closely with commercial team, implementing new project management strategies. We have created a workplace agility overcoming challenges and it helped us to bounce back.

What keeps you awake at night?

Everyone has concerns or challenges in their work or personal life but what keeps me awake at night is the buzz of new exciting project that requires innovative approach. Challenging circumstances always gives way to creativity and I see them as a sign that it’s time to adopt new approach giving space for ingenuity. That is the excitement I really look for in marketing and I believe you either decay or you rebut yourself over and over, that is a rule I apply in my personal life and at work, progress and movement are one of the main principles that will lead to continues successes and development.

What is your approach to building and maintaining airline relationships?

Building and maintaining relationships from a marketing perspective is essential for creating successful partnerships, expanding reach and delivering mutual beneficial value to both parties. 

Offering tailor-made collaborative marketing campaigns is a key success factor as part of a well-defined marketing plan. We are proactive, responsive, and collaborative in our marketing plans, utilizing a variety of marketing channels to promote the partnership, including social media, email marketing, content marketing, and potentially even direct promotions. This will create an environment of working partnership with our customers, which is the key success factor, we always need to remain fresh and effective. 

Describe your perfect vacation

The perfect vacation for me includes activity and exploration specifically cultural experience. I am mesmerized by South America and it’s by far my favorite continent to explore. I’ve been to a few countries there so far, but I can’t describe how each trip was filled with enriching experiences of taste, beautiful nature and amazing culture. The perfect vacation allows for a balance between relaxation and adventure, exploring the local culture, history, and traditions of the destination. You escape from the daily routine, finding relaxation and joy in a beautiful nature creating memorable experiences.
