Mallya to sell 25% stake in Kingfisher

Vijay Mallya, owner of Kingfisher, is preparing to sell a 25% stake in the airline, the UK’s Times newspaper has reported.

Mallya said he has received several expressions of interest in the airline and potential bidders may include BA, Virgin Atlantic and Singapore Airlines.

"I have requested the government to allow foreign airlines to acquire up to 25% in Indian carriers," Mallya said. "This will secure the future of Indian aviation…I have received expressions of interest from foreign airlines."
