Lufthansa Winter 2012 Long-Haul Changes: First Update
Based GDS timetable and inventory listing as of 19APR12, Lufthansa has started updating planned Winter 2012/13 long-haul operation. Some notable changes include:
Frankfurt
- Bogota Service increasing from 5 weekly to 1 daily, A340-600 operating
- Chennai 3-class A340-300 operating, re-introduction of First Class flight (W11 was daily A340-600, S12 is daily 2-class A340-300)
- Houston A380 continues operation on/after 28OCT12 (A380 to be introduced from 01AUG12)
- Nagoya Airbus A340-600 operates daily, replacing 6 weekly A340-300 and 1 weekly -600
- Orlando Airbus A340-600 operates daily, replacing 747-400 in W11
- Tel Aviv 2 Daily flights operated by A330-300, replacing A330/340 mix
Munich
- Beijing Service increases from 5 weekly to 1 daily, A340-300 operating*
- Charlotte Airbus A340-300 operates daily, replacing A330-300 in W11
- Chicago Airbus A330-300 operates daily, replacing A340-300/-600 in W11
- Mexico City Planned service launch on 28OCT12 postponed till 01FEB13
- Seoul Incheon/Busan Service increases from 6 weekly to 1 daily, A340-300 operating*
- Tel Aviv Service operates 5 weekly in W12 with A340-300, replacing A340-300/-600 mix in W11
- Washington Service currently planned daily with A330-300, instead of 4-5 weekly in W11
*Additional frequencies are subject to government approval
Planned Boeing 747-8I service remains pending, despite recent media reports.
