According to Florida's Office of Economic & Demographic Research, the metropolitan area of Jacksonville is expected to grow to nearly 1.9 million by 2030.

Two major interstate highways connect Jacksonville. I-10 goes from Jacksonville to Santa Monica, California, connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. I-95 travels directly through Jacksonville, connecting the city to Miami to the South & North into Canada.

Major operating airlines include: AirTran, Northwest, JetBlue, Frontier, Southwest airlines, Delta Air Lines, US Airways, American Airlines, Continental and United Airlines.

A number of regional carriers also serve JAX, including: ExpressJet, American Eagle, Comair and Shuttle America.

According to the airport's official figures, 368,533 passenger deplanements were recorded in June 2010.

MARKET INFO:

Over a period of 5 years, nearly 20,000 new jobs have been created as a result of companies expanding into or relocating to north-east Florida. These include two major developments:

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) chose Jacksonville for its East Coast Temporary Satellite Office (ECTSO), creating new specialist jobs from banking to financial security and accountancy.

The Boeing Company has expanded its aircraft structural repair facility at Cecil Commerce Center, adding further jobs.
