Hermes Airports becomes official airport partner of The Tourism Seasonality Summit

Hermes Airports

Hermes Airports, operator of both Larnaka and Pafos Airports, supports the Tourism Seasonality Summit run by Routes and Low Season Traveller, as the official Airport Partner.

Hermes Airports reached a historical milestone in 2025, as passenger traffic exceeded 13.75 million for the first time. The growth reflects rising travel demand and Cyprus’ increasing appeal as a year-round destination.

Building year-round demand is a priority for the airports. Hermes is working with tourism stakeholders to grow winter visitation. Winter traffic during the 2024-25 season increased by 8%, the strongest winter performance in Cyprus’ history, with off-peak travel now accounting for 25% of total annual passengers.

Now entering its third year, the Tourism Seasonality Summit has quickly become a premier gathering for senior leaders in tourism, aviation, and destination management. The event provides a dedicated forum to confront the economic, environmental, and social challenges that arise from the heavy concentration of visitors during peak travel periods. The 2026 Summit will take place in Rimini, Italy, from 17–18 May.

Combining the global event expertise of Routes—renowned for shaping the future of air connectivity—with the thought leadership of Low Season Traveller, the leading voice on sustainable tourism seasonality, the Summit has evolved into a driving force for reimagining how the industry addresses seasonal demand patterns.

Tourism Seasonality Summit Founder, Ged Brown said: “Hermes Airports is an ideal partner for the Tourism Seasonality Summit because they are not only experiencing record growth, but actively shaping what sustainable, year‑round tourism looks like in practice. Our mission is to tackle the structural challenges of seasonality by bringing together leaders who are committed to long‑term destination resilience. Hermes’ focus on growing year-round demand and spreading the benefits of tourism beyond the peak months mirrors exactly what this Summit was created to achieve.”

Hermes Airports’ Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communication, Maria Kouroupi will feature on a panel discussion within the Summit. The session will explore how network planners assess the impact of seasonality and the strategies they use to adapt to tourism trends. With Hermes Airports having delivered record passenger growth while actively expanding winter connectivity and off‑peak travel, Kouroupi brings a rare, real‑world perspective shaped by close collaboration with airline partners and a proven commitment to building year‑round demand—making her an ideal contributor to this discussion.

Commenting on the upcoming Tourism Seasonality Summit, Hermes Airports’ Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communication, Maria Kouroupi said: “Our partnership with Routes underscores Hermes Airports’ strategic commitment to advancing Cyprus as a sustainable, year-round destination. By working closely with airline and tourism stakeholders, we are focused on strengthening winter connectivity, enhancing route development, and supporting balanced traffic growth across all seasons. We look forward to contributing to the Summit’s dialogue and sharing our experience in driving resilient tourism development.”
