Gulf Air reveals alliance ambitions
Gulf Air has had preliminary discussions with an airline alliance, with
the aim of becoming part of a major airline grouping in the next five
years, said Gulf Air chief strategy officer, Tero Taskila last week.
Speaking at ACI Europe Airport Exchange in Berlin, he declined to name
which alliance Gulf was considering but confirmed its alliance
ambitions formed a core of the carrier’s long-term strategy.
Middle Eastern carriers have so far been slower to join the big three
alliances, with only oneworld having a full Middle Eastern member
carrier in the form of Royal Jordanian.
