Gulf Air launches flights to Aleppo

Bahrain's National carrier Gulf Air held a small event today at Bahrain International Airport marking the launch of its permanent operations to the city of Aleppo in Syria.

The event was attended by Gulf Air’s Chief Executive Mr. Samer Majali, senior management members and various airport staff. Mr. Majali cut a ribbon at the departure gate and greeted passengers flying onboard the inaugural flight.

Speaking at the event, the Syrian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain H.E Mr. Suleiman Sarra said, “We wholeheartedly welcome Gulf Air expanding its network into the Syrian Arab Republic. Gulf Air’s relationship with Syria began more than two decades ago when it started flying to Damascus in 1988 and I am glad this relationship has grown stronger with the addition of Aleppo. This further demonstrates the historic, friendly relations between Syria and Bahrain.”

In addition to Aleppo, the airline launched services to Alexandria on June 2, and plans to launch services to Holy Media on 17 June.
