Canadian ULCC Flair Airlines will add St. John’s International Airport (YYT) to its network next year with seasonal flights from two airports, including Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

Flights between YYZ and YYT, located in the eastern Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, will be operated 3X-weekly starting May 6, 2024, with frequencies rising to 4X-weekly from May 28. Flair, an all-Boeing 737 operator, will fly the route until Oct. 25, 2024.

The carrier will also operate to YYT from Kitchener-Waterloo Airport (YKF) in Ontario, with 2X-weekly flights kicking off from May 6, 2024. Frequencies will rise to 3X-weekly from May 27, with the YYT-YKF service operating until Oct. 25, 2024.

Edmonton-based Flair will also operate 3X-weekly seasonal service between YYZ and Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF) in Newfoundland and Labrador from May 27, 2024 to Oct. 7, 2024.

"Flair Airlines is thrilled to bring our low fares and expand our Atlantic Canada routes, establishing Flair's presence in St. John's and offering the most affordable flights between Toronto to Deer Lake," Flair CEO Stephen Jones says in a statement. "Our recent consumer survey revealed that over half of Canadians believe domestic air travel in Canada is unaffordable … We are dedicated to breaking down the economic barriers associated with air travel and creating opportunities for domestic travel and tourism within Canada."

St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen adds: “The new routes will provide enhanced connectivity for our residents, improve tourism prospects and support economic growth.”

Flair will compete against Air Canada, Porter Airlines and WestJet on the YYZ-YYT route. The carrier will go against Air Canada on the YYZ-YDF route.
