Russian leisure operator Transaero has announced that after a ten year hiatus, it will reintroduce scheduled services to Riga with a twice weekly rotation to be operated with B737-500 equipment from Moscow Domodedovo.

Transaero will face competition from Moscow Sheremetyevo with Air Baltic and Skyteam member Aeroflot operating a double daily and daily service respectively.


200810-easyjetFFFEASYJET TO OPERATE LUXOR FROM LONDON GATWICK

Effective November 3rd 2010, low-cost operator easyJet will start a new twice daily rotation from its London Gatwick base to the Egyptian destination of Luxor. The new route is to be operated with A320 equipment and will complement existing easyJet services to Egypt.These services comprise of London Gatwick to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh which is operated from three of its bases: London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester.

Polish flag-carrier LOT will open new scheduled services from its Warsaw hub to Damascus in Syria. The route will be inaugurated from November 2nd and will be operated on a twice weekly basis. IATA BSP data shows that 26% of the existing O+D market currently transits via Budapest with Malev Hungarian Airlines.


200810-aer-lingusFFFAER LINGUS TRANSFER MANCHESTER ROUTE TO EXPRESS

For the coming Winter season, Aer Lingus will transfer its mainline service from Cork to Manchester, which is currently operated on a six times weekly basis, to Aer Lingus Express, operated by Aer Arann. The smaller ATR-72 equipment will now be operated on a twice daily rotation. Aer Lingus currently has a 66% share of the O+D market with bmibaby a 34% share.


KLM TO INCREASE PANAMA CITY

Effective October 31st, SkyTeam member KLM is increasing its scheduled five times weekly service to a six times weekly operation. KLM currently has an 81% share of the existing O+D market and is the only carrier operating the route non-stop.
