Oman's national carrier will begin a four-times weekly service between Muscat and Kathmandu, starting on September 2.

It's the 40th destination in the carrier's network and will be served with B737-700s.

The route will capture the 'strong demand' from Nepalese nationals working in Oman, and serve a strong mix of corporate and leisure traffic, says Oman Air.


LOT Cuts Transatlantic Routes from Krakow

LOT Polish airlines will retract transatlantic services from Krakow this winter, instead focusing on growth from its Warsaw Chopin Airport hub.

From Krakow, LOT will cancel its once-weekly service to New York JFK and nine-times weekly schedule to Chicago O'hare.The traffic will still be able to connect through Warsaw, as Krakow is served 56 weekly by LOT.

From Warsaw, its transatlantic schedule will remain intact, with nine flights a week to both Chicago and New York, and a daily service to Toronto.

Owing to planned runway renovation works at Warsaw in September, LOT will temporarily operate flights to Chicago, New York and Toronto from Gdansk, Katowice and Rzeszow.

Air Berlin will increase its winter operations from Zurich with the announcement of direct flights to Alicante, starting on November 5.

The carrier already flies the route but via Palma de Mallorca, which will complement the new service


Qatar Airways Announces First US Cargo Route

Qatar Airways Cargo will begin its first freighter service to the US on August 18, with twice-weekly flights from its Doha hub to Chicago.

The route will be served by its new 777 freighters.

Qatar Airways now operates 20 B777 aircraft, including 11 Extended Range (300-ERs), seven Long Range (200-LRs) and two freighters.


Cebu Pacific Increases Asian Frequencies

Manila based Cebu Pacific this week announced increased frequencies to 6 Asian destinations; Kota Kinabalu, Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakata and Beijing.

The Beijing frequency increase will be offered from 5th September. The remaining increases will be introduced during October and December.

Cebu Pacific currently operates a fleet of 21 Airbus A320-family aircraft and eight ATR 72-500s. An additional 22 A320's will be introduced until 2014.
