Extended Route Exchange Programme Announced for Routes Africa!

It’s been a busy week for Routes Africa airline recruitment with the addition of new Route Exchange Briefings and even more airline registrations for the event. The latest addition is Egyptair who registered 3 delegates meaning that there are now over 50 airline delegates representing over 30 airlines for the first time ever at this regional event.

According to IATA data this means that the top six domestic operators (South African Airways, Arik Air, Egyptair, Kenya Airways, Kulula.com & Comair) and the top 4 international operators (Egyptair, Kenya Airways, SAA & Ethiopian) in Africa will all be in attendance.

Two more carriers have now signed up to deliver a Route Exchange Airline Briefing in the Seychelles at next month’s Routes Africa event. This brings the total number of briefings taking place at the event to five which is more than in previous years.

These ever popular briefings, given by senior network planners, are an opportunity for airports attending to gain an overview of the carriers, allowing them to view, first-hand, what information the airline requires from the airports when making route proposals.

The most recent additions to the programme come from Air Austral and RwandAir. Jean-Marc Grazzini, Executive Vice President Business Development for Air Austral will discuss new opportunities for the Reunion based operator whilst Bert van Der Stege, Commercial Director of RwandAir will outline the carrier’s plans for their CRJ900 aircraft that enter the fleet in October 2012. Mr van Der Stege will also announce details of the new Route Exchange Request for Proposal (RFP) which will provide an opportunity for airports to enter the bidding process for new routes with RwandAir.

South African Airways signed up to deliver a Route Exchange Airline Briefing some time ago and Keith Green, Manager of Network Planning for SAA will outline how Africa’s largest airline will expand within the African continent. A presentation from Alan Renaud, Head of Corporate Planning for Air Seychelles will discuss its route development plans and structure whilst Lanre Bamgbose, AVP - Alliances & Business Development for Arik Air will deliver a presentation on the new markets of interest to Nigeria’s fastest growing carrier.

Places in these briefings are limited so airport delegates should contact Simon Baxendale, Scheduling Manager for Routes to add briefings to your diary of pre-scheduled meetings.
