SKYTEAM MEMBER RAMPS UP MARSEILLE LINKS
KLM has announced that it will add an additional daily frequency from Amsterdam to Marseille. Effective March 27th, the route will be operated four-times daily. IATA BSP data shows that over 69,000 O+D passengers flew the route between July 2009 and July 2010.
JAT AIRWAYS ADD NEW ROME LINK
The Serbian national airline JAT Airways has announced new service connecting the Slovenian market of Portoroz to Rome. JAT currently serves Rome from its Belgrade base on a five-times weekly basis. The new service via Portoroz will be operated twice-weekly with ATR72 equipment.
EASYJET EXPANDS IN LIVERPOOL
Low-cost carrier easyJet has announced new non-stop service to four markets from Liverpool, UK. Currently operating seventeen scheduled destinations from the north-west gateway, it will begin non-stop service to Salzburg from December 17th.
In Summer 2011, new services will be inaugurated to Tallinn and Gibraltar, both thrice-weekly and Brussels six-times weekly.
AIR FRANCE SET FOR BILLUND
Air France has revealed that it will commence non-stop service from Paris CDG to Billund, Denmark. The new route will commence March 27th and will be operated thrice-daily by regional Brit Air aircraft. This sector is currently operated by Cimber Air on a thirteen-times weekly basis.
NEW CHINESE ROUTE FOR KLM
KLM has also revealed plans to add new non-stop service to Xiamen in China, which will be its fifth destination in China. The route will start March 27th and will be operated thrice-weekly with widebody B777 equipment. It will be the only non-stop service from Europe to Xiamen, with over 33,000 O+D passengers having flown between Xiamen and Europe between September 2009 and 2010. Air China currently has a 39% share of this traffic, largely via Beijing, with Cathay Pacific having a 35% via Singapore.
SWISS CARRIER HEADS TO ITALY
Regional operator Helvetic Airways which announced services to Cardiff earlier this year, has also revealed that effective April 22nd, 2011 it will begin non-stop services from Bern to Brindisi, Italy. The carrier will station a Fokker 100 aircraft at Bern as it plans expansion of services there.
