Emirates Airline is to boost capacity between Dubai and Paris CDG to keep track with the rapid growth of traffic between Europe and the Middle East. The airline has revealed it will add an additional five weekly flights to the French capital during 2012. “The increase in flights is in direct response to strong passenger demand on the route,” it confirmed.
In the past year an estimated 288,000 O&D passengers travelled between Paris CDG and Dubai, with additional connecting traffic travelling further afield to destinations in Asia and the Middle East. The point-to-point traffic is up 5.9 per cent compared with the previous 12 month period and up 46.0 from the figure five years ago. The Middle East carrier competes with Air France between Dubai and Paris CDG: the French national carrier has this week increased its own capacity on the route by replacing the Boeing 777 on its daily link with an Airbus A380.
Emirates already operates double daily services on the route but will add four further weekly rotations from the start of the Northern Summer 2012 schedules on March 25, 2012. The fifth weekly rotation will be added during the Northern Winter 2012/2013 schedules from October 28, 2012. All these additional flights will be operated using Boeing 777-300ERs configured with eight First Class Private Suites, 42 lie-flat beds in Business Class and an Economy Class cabin with 310 seats.
“Demand to and from France, particularly from business travellers, is such that a third frequency has always been an objective for Emirates, said Salem Obaidalla, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation, Emirates Airline. “With these additional services, we will help to satisfy that demand, while providing more opportunities for travel between Paris, Dubai and beyond to our network of more than 100 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia.”
