Countdown to Routes Americas!

Since The HUB last updated you on the Routes Americas Strategy Forum there have been many additions to the programme with several senior delegates confirming their participation. Below you will find an update on this exciting element of the event and more.

The forum, which will be open to all Routes Americas delegates and will open the event on the afternoon of Sunday 19th February, will involve 3 moderator led sessions covering various aviation related subjects affecting the Americas region.

During the first session; Taxation - the real cost to the economy and the impact on the aviation industry, moderated by Minister Richard Skerrit, Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation the panel will include Minister Glen Beache, Minister of Tourism for St. Vincent & The Grenadines and Mr Estuardo Robles, CEO of Ciudad Aeropuerto.

Mr Alex de Gunten, Executive Director of ALTA has now confirmed as the moderator for session two; Airport Privatisation – short term expectations, long term investment and lessons learnt from across the globe. Mr de Gunten will be joined by panellists Mr Jaime Daly, CEO of Latin American Airport Holding (LAAH), Mr Patricio Sepulveda, Regional VP IATA for Latin America and the Caribbean and Mr Philippe Baril, President of ACI-LAC.

Confirmed panellists for the third session; The State of the Americas Market, already include Mr Maurício Emboaba Moreira, Senior Strategic Advisor from GOL Transportes Aereos, Mr Alfredo Gonzalaez, VP of Tourism & International Business for Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and Ms Kristi Wenaus, Director – Sales & Partnerships for Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture & Heritage.

Voting for the first heat of this year’s Routes Airport Marketing Awards has been extended until Friday 3rd February. Speaking at last year’s ceremony Luis Perez, Vice President Air Services Development Department, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, overall winner for the Americas 2011 said: “We are extremely delighted to accept this award which is a testament to the efforts of over 1700 employees who work hard to ensure we bring exceptional service to our customers every day”.
