Chengdu set to be largest Routes Asia to date!

Routes Asia 2012 was officially launched recently and registrations for the event which takes place in April have been flooding in.

More than30 airlines have already registered to attend the event in Chengdu, more than ever before at such an early stage. Oman Air is the latest airline to confirm its attendance along with low-cost operator Jetstar Airways from Australia. Other airlines who have registered early for the event include Middle East giant Emirates Airline, who will make their inaugural appearance at Routes Asia, fast expanding low-cost carrier Tiger Airways Singapore and Saudi Arabian Airlines; the latter another first time attendee. The complete airline list will be unveiled online next week so keep checking www.routesonline.com for regular updates.

Airport attendees include Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, Wellington International Airport and London Stansted Airport. A strong attendance from tourism authorities is also expected, with registrations already received from Tourism Tropical North Queensland and Tourism Western Australia.

The Routes Asia Strategy Forum is also taking shape and many high level speakers have been invited. Session one; China – The Holy Grail will be moderated by Gordon Bevan, VP Consulting Services for Airport Strategy & Marketing and will discuss how to do network development business in China.

Vijay Poonoosamy, Vice President International and Public Affairs, Etihad Airways and Chairman - IATA Industry Affairs Committee will moderate session two; India’s Challenges which will cover how India is opening up to the world whilst questioning whether market regulations are stifling opportunities. Mr V P Agrawal, Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has confirmed that he will attend as one of the panelists for this session

During the third and final session; Good Times and Bad the discussion will cover, how to cope with traffic downturns following economic and natural disasters? How to beat cyclical markets and what marketing tactics can be employed to stimulate traffic? Can social media play a role?
