Cathay Pacific to Reduce North American Operation
OneWorld member Cathay Pacific starting 16SEP12 is implementing a series of service cuts to North America, mostly frequency reductions. This is mainly due to aircraft redeployment, followed by the decision to accelerate Boeing 747-400 aircraft retirement this year.
Planned service cuts include:
- Los Angeles eff 16SEP12 Service reduces from 21 to 17 weekly, CX884/885 operates on Day 146 only (This flight is operated by 3-class 777-300ER, no First Class service)
- New York JFK eff 16SEP12 Nonstop service reduces from 21 to 18 weekly, CX846/845 operates Day x136 from HKG, Day x247 from JFK
- Toronto eff 16SEP12 Service reduces from 10 to 7 weekly, CX828/825 cancelled
- Vancouver eff 16SEP12 CX838/837 on Day 357 operates with 3-class 777-300ER, no First Class service (replacing 747-400)
