Bahrain Air and nasair Agree Codeshare Partnership

Bahrain Air, the private national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain and nasair the national carrier of Saudi Arabia signed a codeshare agreement on flights from Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The partnership was signed at a special ceremony at the Mövenpick Hotel in Manama on October 14, 2012 and follows just weeks after nasair concluded a similar marketing deal with United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier Etihad Airways on flights through Abu Dhabi International Airport

Under the terms of the deal, nasair will place its ‘XY’ code on Bahrain Air ‘BN’ flights currently operating from Dammam in Saudi Arabia to Beirut and Khartoum. Subject to regulatory approvals, the codeshare will take effect from the winter schedule and is likely to be just the first phase of a much wider co-operation between the two carriers.

“We are optimistic that this tie up will be a win-win for both our carriers. We see this as the start of a more extensive collaboration that will bring benefits to customers of both carriers. Passenger numbers will grow with the wide offering of network and competitive pricing,” said Richard Nuttall, Chief Executive Officer, Bahrain Air.

Bahrain Air began serving Dammam from Bahrain in December 2010 but it established an international base at King Fahad International Airport in June this year and currently offers three times weekly links on the two routes to Beirut and Khartoum. “This additional code share agreement marks another mile stone in the development of nasair network and particularly out of Dammam. Both our customers will benefit from increase flights at competitive fares,” added Captain François Bouteiller, Chief Executive Officer, nasair.

Bahrain Air currently operates to 20 destinations throughout the GCC, Levant, Indian Subcontinent and African regions. Additionally, nasair operates to 27 destinations within Saudi Arabia and mainly in the MENA region.
