BA defends tie up plans
British Airways (BA) has defended its plans for a transatlantic tie up with American Airlines (AA) and Iberia saying it plans to overcome the concerns raised in the European Commission’s Statement of Objections, which was released today (October 2).
In a press statement the flag carrier said it would “look forward to the opportunity to address and overcome the EU’s concerns and especially given the substantial benefits for consumers that would result from our transatlantic joint business,” after the commission warned it may breach European anti-trust rules.
Earlier today the commission issued a statement saying the alliance “may be in breach of European rules on restrictive business practices.” in it’s statment which is part of its ongoing investigation.
