Colombia’s Avianca is this month resuming 11 seasonal routes between Central America and the U.S., including flights between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Guatemala City.
The 11 routes have been resumed or are about to be resumed, and are being operated with Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity to seat 180 passengers.
The service between ORD and the Guatemalan capital will operate 3X-weekly through Aug. 30. All of the routes are scheduled to conclude on a seasonal basis at the end of August.
"We continue to invest in the U.S. as one of the most important connectivity hubs within our route network,” said Rolando Damas, Avianca's North America sales director. In a statement, he added the 11 routes “strengthen our point-to-point operation, facilitating access for more travelers to explore the continent's main destinations."
Avianca has reopened flights from both Las Vegas and Orlando, Florida, to San Salvador, El Salvador, flying both services 4X-weekly. The carrier is also operating between Orlando and Medellin, Colombia, 3X-weekly.
The carrier is flying between Washington Dulles and San Jose, Costa Rica, operating the route 4X-weekly through Aug. 30.
Avianca is reopening four seasonal routes from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport: Cali (3X-weekly), Cartagena (4X-weekly) and Pereira (4X-weekly), all in Colombia; and San Pedro Sula (3X-weekly), Honduras.
Avianca also will fly daily service this summer from Miami to both Cali and Cartagena.
The airline said it will offer a total of more than 20,000 seats weekly on the 11 routes from June-August.
