Argentina’s government has approved an 18-year extension of Aeropuertos Argentina’s concession, supporting an airport investment program valued at approximately $7.3 billion over the next three decades.
The revised agreement includes about $1.5 billion of spending between 2027 and 2031 across airports operated by the Corporacion America Airports subsidiary. Most of the wider program will be financed through trusts funded by concession payments, while Aeropuertos Argentina has committed to make $600 million of direct investments.
The concession, previously scheduled to expire in 2038, has been extended by 11 years to restore its economic and financial balance. A further seven years were granted in return for the operator’s $600 million commitment, taking the expiration date to February 2056.
The revised framework sees the international passenger fee remain unchanged, while the domestic passenger fee will increase to $9 on Jan. 1, 2027. The existing $25.16 regional fee, currently applied to flights of up to 300 km (186 mi.), will be extended to services of up to 1,000 km.
Aeropuertos Argentina handled 9.6 million passengers during the second quarter of 2026, down 6.4% year over year. Domestic traffic fell 11.7% to 6 million passengers, while international traffic increased 4.1% to a second-quarter record of 3.6 million.
The operator attributed the domestic decline partly to lower Flybondi capacity, planned JetSmart maintenance, and reductions by Aerolineas Argentinas following higher fuel prices.
OAG Schedules Analyser data indicates that airlines currently plan to offer approximately 13.92 million departure seats from Argentine airports during the northern winter 2026-27 season, broadly flat from 13.97 million a year earlier. Domestic capacity is scheduled to fall 0.6% to 8.99 million seats, while international capacity remains almost flat at 4.94 million.
At an airline level, Aerolineas Argentinas’ capacity is scheduled to rise 10.9% to 6.25 million seats, while JetSmart will increase by 14.9% to 2.89 million. Flybondi capacity is currently set to fall 42.8% to 1.39 million seats.
Aeropuertos Argentina reported second-quarter revenue of $220.9 million, down 5.1% year over year, while adjusted operating cash flow declined 20.1% to $73.6 million. The company invested $31.7 million during the quarter.
