The Danish government will provide an additional DKK 1.5 billion ($240 million) in financing to Greenland Airports International to support the completion of the new international airport in Ilulissat. Greenland Airports International, majority-owned by the Greenland government with the Danish state as minority shareholder, is responsible for developing and operating international airports in Nuuk and Ilulissat. “The state wants to help Greenland Airports International to successfully complete the construction of the airport in Ilulissat and enter a new phase with the possibility of direct international flights in both Nuuk and Ilulissat,” Danish Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen says. The financing package includes DKK 1.1 billion in additional state re-lending and a DKK 0.4 billion construction grant. Canada’s Halifax International Airport Authority has opened a new International Connections Facility at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Renovations to the ground floor of the existing international arrivals area will continue through 2025.
